Resources by Audience: Case Manager/Outreach Worker

Case managers work directly with homeless persons or persons at-risk of homelessness, serving a variety of individual client needs. Case managers are likely to seek easy-to-use resources and tools that can assist with everyday responsibilities, such as client intake and assessment, helping clients obtain mainstream benefits and services, and providing housing search assistance. Outreach workers also work closely with persons experiencing homelessness, though outreach workers are typically tasked with bringing persons living on the street into the service system. As a result, outreach workers are likely to seek practical, hands-on resources and tools on topics ranging from effective engagement and assessment techniques to serving persons with mental illness and substance abuse problems. In particular, identifying and serving people who are chronically homeless is often a priority for outreach workers.
