CoC Check-up: Next Steps
The CoC Check-up Self-Assessment Tool closed on January 20, 2012. CoC Leads may now enter the CoC Lead Portal to generate an aggregate report of stakeholder responses. CoC Leads will also be able to access a new "CoC Profile" report in the Homelessness Data Exchange (HDX). For information about the CoC Check-up process, select the links below.
Ready, SET, Go!
The weekly Ready, SET, Go! webinar series will provide comprehensive information for CoCs, HMIS administrators, grantees, project sponsors and other stakeholders on a variety of topics focused on community planning and capacity building.

HPRP Success Stories
Since the beginning of the program, communities across the country have worked to prevent and end homelessness for over one million people, including families and individuals (see the HPRP Year 1 Summary). Examples of HPRP communities' promising work and the success stories of individuals and families are highlighted on the HRE website.
Homeless Definition
HUD published the final rule revising the definition of "homeless" in the Federal Register on December 5, 2011. This rule makes uniform the regulation for the definition of "homeless" as well as the corresponding recordkeeping requirements for the ESG, SHP, and S+C programs.

ESG Regs, Comments,
& Questions
HUD published the Notice of the ESG Substantial Amendment Process to clarify certain requirements in the interim rule for the Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) program.

HMIS Regs, Comments,
& Questions
HUD published the proposed rule for HMIS Requirements in the Federal Register on December 9, 2011. It is available for comment, but the requirements will not go into effect until the final rule is published.

PIT and HIC
All CoCs must conduct a Housing Inventory Count (HIC) and a Point-in-Time (PIT) count of sheltered homeless persons during the last 10 days in January 2012.
HUD will continue to require an unsheltered PIT count biennially; the next required count year is 2013.

Request
technical assistance
HUD grantees, subrecipients and Continuum of Care members who are implementing a homeless assistance program can submit a request to HUD for TA Provider assistance. HUD will determine who should receive on-call, on-site or long term TA.
You may Submit a TA Request to HUD for assistance.
However, CoCs requesting TA must first complete the CoC Check-up.
- CoCs can access the CoC Check-up via the CoC Lead Portal.
- CoC stakeholders who have been invited to participate in the Check-up will receive an email.
